Did you know that over 100,000 marine animals die every year from plastic entanglement and ingestion? Our oceans are full of plastic, and marine animals are suffering because of it. It’s up to all of us to go green and start living a more sustainable lifestyle so that we can protect our planet for future generations.
Here at The Courtyards & Tierra Palms Apartment Homes , we do what we can to protect the environment and promote sustainable living—not just by reducing unnecessary plastic waste, but also by preserving water. Here are three ways we live green at The Courtyards & Tierra Palms .
We Encourage Residents to Recycle
One of the best ways to live green is to recycle. We have recycling bins in our office, and we encourage all residents to recycle as well. Items you can recycle include plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, paper, and flattened cardboard. However, you cannot recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.
Here in Norwalk, you can take your recycling to Norwalk Recycling Center . Making this small change in your daily habits can make a big difference for our planet.
We Reduce Our Water Use
Because Norwalk is prone to droughts, cut down on our water use in a few ways. First of all, our property has drought-tolerant landscaping, which means we use plants, such as succulents, that don’t require much water. We have also installed a drip irrigation system and replaced some grass and mulch areas with beautiful stone. This allows us to save thousands of gallons of water on landscaping alone.
We also save on water indoors with our plumbing system. Most toilets use about 3.5 gallons of water each time they flush. Our low-flow toilets , on the other hand, use about 20 percent less water than regular toilets. This adds up to a surprising 13,000 gallons of water that each low-flow toilet can save per year!
We Cut Down on Paper and Plastic Waste
At The Courtyards & Tierra Palms, we go green by doing everything—applications, rent payments, service requests, and notices—online. Not only is this convenient for our residents, but it eliminates the need for unnecessary paper waste.
We’re Excited to Announce Organic Waste Recycling!
Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate! This initiative will help keep millions of pounds of food waste out of landfills and turn them into compost and renewable natural gas. You can learn more about organic waste recycling h ere . We’ll keep you up to date as this program expands throughout the state.
In our community, we strive to provide quality services to help make your life as a resident a little easier. Visit our new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more!
Additionally, we encourage residents to use the water bottle refill station on the property. By doing this, we can all significantly reduce the waste from plastic water bottles.
We want to do all we can to take care of the environment and go green. If you are looking for an apartment complex that cares as much about the earth as you do, The Courtyards & Tierra Palms Apartment Homes may just be the perfect place for you!
